That slogan comes to life each summer as vacationists from the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, and more distant places are attracted by this green strip of peninsula extending into the inviting waters of the Potomac River on one side and peaceful Monroe Bay on the other. There is a calm depth of richness and beauty hovering over Colonial Beach which acts as a magnet ceaselessly drawing to its heart the tired, hot people of cities and towns for hundreds of miles around.
The climate is moderate, but sunshine abounds, and makes this resort an ideal vacation spot. The wide, sandy beach slopes gently into the salt water of the broad Potomac; there is no dangerous drop-off or undertow.
